Quizera – Cookie Policy
1. Introduction
Quizera ("we", "our", "ours") values transparency about cookies and similar technologies. This Cookie Policy explains how cookies and similar technologies are used in the Quizera mobile application and web platform ("Services").
2. What is a Cookie?
Cookies are small text files saved to your device when you visit a website or use an application. Cookies help websites and applications function properly, remember user preferences, and improve user experience.
3. Our Cookie Usage
3.1 Mobile Application
We do not use traditional web cookies in the Quizera mobile application. However, we use technologies with similar functions:
- Local Storage: To store your app settings and preferences on your device
- Device Identifiers: For app functionality and security
3.2 Web Platform
Depending on enabled features, web services may include accounts, quiz creation and a library alongside guest participation by PIN. Browser storage supports sessions, preferences and service data. Firebase Authentication and App Check/reCAPTCHA may process technical data for security and abuse prevention. Features may also process analytics events; web processing should not be assumed to be limited to session storage.
4. Technologies We Use
4.1 Firebase Analytics
Firebase Analytics processes usage events and technical identifiers; when signed in, the account ID may be associated with Analytics and Crashlytics records. These data should not be described as fully anonymous. Crashlytics supports error diagnosis and Firebase Performance measures performance.
4.2 Google AdMob
Google AdMob is used for ad display. This service:
- Uses Advertising IDs
- Measures ad performance
- Displays personalized ads
- Subject to AdMob's privacy policy
On the web platform (quizera.tr), Google AdSense, the web counterpart of AdMob, serves ads to members who do not have an ad-free plan. Google and its partners may use cookies and similar technologies to serve and measure ads; where required, a consent message lets you choose before ads are personalized. You can manage ad personalization at https://adssettings.google.com and learn how Google uses data at https://policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites
4.3 Local Storage
To store your app settings and preferences on your device:
- SharedPreferences (Android)
- UserDefaults (iOS)
- Flutter Secure Storage (for sensitive information)
4.4 Stored Data
We store the following data locally on your device:
- Quiz Drafts: Auto-saved quiz data for recovery
- Theme Preference: Dark/light/system theme selection
- Language Preference: Your preferred language
- Notification Settings: Your notification preferences
- Quiz Filters: Your saved filter and sorting preferences
- Last Activity: Timestamp of your last app activity
- Offline Cache: Metadata of frequently used quizzes
- Login Credentials: Email and encrypted password (if "Remember Me" is enabled)
- Onboarding Status: Whether you've completed the onboarding
- Sound Settings: Music, effects, and vibration preferences
- FCM Token: Firebase Cloud Messaging token (stored on Firebase servers for push notifications)
5. Cookie Management
5.1 Mobile Application
For consent-based processing, you may request withdrawal at info@quizera.tr. Manage notification permissions in device settings and advertising identifiers/personalization through the controls offered by your operating system. Google's advertising consent form is displayed where required. Device settings do not stop every processing activity. Withdrawal does not affect the lawfulness of previous processing.
5.2 Web Platform
You can clear or restrict cookies and site data in browser settings. This may sign you out or prevent some features from working; it does not erase server-side data.
6. Third-Party Cookies
6.1 Firebase
Firebase may use cookie-like technologies for analytics, error reporting, and push notification services. Firebase Cloud Messaging (FCM) service stores device tokens for sending push notifications. Firebase's privacy policy: https://firebase.google.com/support/privacy
6.2 Google AdMob
Google AdMob uses cookie-like technologies for ad display. AdMob's privacy policy: https://policies.google.com/privacy
6.3 OpenAI
For AI features, your topic, content extracted from a URL, text extracted from an uploaded document and text recognized locally by OCR from scanned images may be sent to OpenAI for quiz generation/validation. Existing question content may also be processed depending on the feature. Sending content through an API does not mean OpenAI places cookies on your device.
7. Cookie Duration
7.1 Session Cookies
Temporary data lifetimes depend on the technology. Persistent sessions and local storage are not necessarily deleted when the app or browser closes.
7.2 Persistent Cookies
Stored on your device for a specific period or until manually deleted.
8. Data Retention
- Quiz Drafts: Automatically deleted after 7 days
- Offline Cache: Last 20 quizzes
- Other Preferences: Stored until you delete the app or clear data
9. Your Control
You can control your data by:
- Clearing app data from device settings
- Deleting the app
- Disabling specific features in app settings
- Opting out of personalized ads in device settings
10. Children and Cookies
The minimum age for the Services is 13, or 16 for EU/EEA users. These are Quizera's service limits; stricter local age or additional consent requirements still apply. We do not offer participation below these limits through parental consent. If we identify data belonging to a user below the age limit, we initiate account closure and erasure of the relevant data. Contact: info@quizera.tr.
11. Cookie Policy Changes
We may update this Cookie Policy from time to time. When significant changes are made, we will send a notification to your registered email address or make an in-app notification.
